Our first approach was to redesign the website, resulting in website visitors staying longer and reading more pages. The bounce rate (the number of visitors who only visit the homepage and then leave) was also dramatically reduced.
This new website included many different keyword areas so it needed high visibility in the search engines for a wide range of keywords. None of these are particularly high volume keywords, so it was important to use a wide range of keywords to get the increase in visitors.
During 12 months of search engine optimisation on the website from 2009 to 2010, visitors to the website increased by over 240% due to the top page visibility of an extra 350 keywords.
